Family Lawyers and Costs

What does a family lawyer cost?

When your marriage is over or your defacto relationship ends, you may be concerned about the cost of a good family lawyer. Chis Williams is an experienced, Fremantle local lawyer who can help you to negotiate the best outcome for you.  At your first meeting, Chris will give you:

  • A Costs Estimate for your matter
  • A Costs Agreement, which shows the hourly rates of all of our staff. Our lawyers’ fees are $275 -$440 per hour depending on experience.
  • If appropriate to your matter, the Fixed Fee costs for drafting your Family Court application for consent order.

How much does a divorce cost?

Divorce itself is a reasonably straightforward process – you can find out more about it at http://www.familycourt.wa.gov.au/D/divorce.aspx .  However, it is important that you consider legal advice about divorce, child custody and property settlement (dividing up your assets).  A good family lawyer can advise you about how to go about getting a divorce and how this will affect your legal rights.

How can I keep costs down?

If you choose to work with us, we will advise you from the outset how to keep your family law costs down to reduce the financial burden of separation and divorce.

Is mediation cheaper than going to court?

Mediation can be a faster, more cost effective, & less stressful way to settle your family law property or child custody dispute. However, it is important that you get advice first as to whether this is the best path for you in your personal situation.

If you are not sure whether you need legal advice or mediation, or both, Chris Williams offers a Free 15 minute consultation to help you get started. Use the Contact Us button on this site to book your free consultation today.

Chris Williams Lawyer & Mediator is a Fremantle local who offers experience, personalized and affordable legal advice to all in the Fremantle area and beyond to Cockburn, Melville and Rockingham.
